We endeavor to give our students the practical tools to respond to the challenges they will encounter with confidence! We seek to prepare them to effectively speak the hope of the gospel into the world of despair and hopeless dead ends.
This class is a foundational, immersive approach to the beginning of learning Spanish! Games, dance, and song make this class exciting for our young students!
Students will practice their new language through stories, songs, conversation, games, worksheets and activities. They will learn vocabulary for colors, numbers, fruits, shapes, parts of the body and more.
In Spanish A, students will practice their new language through stories, songs, conversation, games, worksheets and activities. Students will also learn simple grammar concepts and how to use the new vocabulary in order to form sentences as they practice simple conversation in the class.
In this one hour course, more advanced students will continue on their language journey as they learn to speak simple sentences, sing songs, and say Bible verses. Students will engage with the language by using flash cards, workbook pages, stories, songs and conversation, as well as audio recordings of the phrases being learned which will be provided on the Aretē website.
We will be reading a variety of time-honored children’s literature. The goal of the course is to instill a love of reading for quality literature and to encourage both critical thinking about and appreciation for the written word.
We will explore different cultures and countries around the world through: song, language learning, geography, and food sampling. Each week we will study a new country and have a hands-on project in class. Get ready for a fast paced world tour!

Students will learn to write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, well-chosen details, and well-structured event sequences.
Through reading and examining different authors’ use of literary elements, we will analyze how complex characters develop over the course of text and advance the plot, how the specific word choices impact the story, and how the structure of a text can create such effects as mystery, tension, or surprise.
Students will practice penmanship and handwriting by working through Draw, Write, Now. We will also work on memorizing and identifying parts of speech. Students will be enrouraged to speak infront of their classmates by memorizing books, verses, and poems they love. Grades 2-3
Students will learn how to properly form letters in cursive writing. Students will also work on their written communication, while applying their newly learned cursive skills, all while learning about the U.S. States! By the end of the school year your student should not only be able to write fluently, but also be able to read cursive writing.
This is a different type of class: instead of learning what to think about, students will learn how to think and reason well. We will complete a comprehensive study of informal logic. This is an especially engaging class because the real world going on around us is ripe with examples of the good—and poor—logic that we will discuss. Students will apply their newfound knowledge to digest current and historic events and see them through a new lens.

Playing chess encourages the development of logical reasoning, long-term planning and creative problem solving! Our class will spend a portion of the time devoted to studying chess strategy and tactics. Class available for beginners and those with a little experience.

7th-9th grade: Using Apologia’s physical science curriculum, this class reinforces the reading done at home and offers a group setting to do relevant laboratory experiments and learn to write formal lab reports.
Your student will explore and learn about the observable universe, life in the habitable zone, spheres of the Earth, mapping our planet, the forces that make and shape the land and sea, climate and weather, cycles of life, and unique places on Earth as they reveal the marvel and might of our loving Creator.
Our youngest scientists will continue to allow their curiosity about all that God has created to grow
(Botany) as they do hands-on experiments. They will begin to process the “why” in these classes.
This is an interdisciplinary course designed to spark an interest in both geology and geography! Each week the students will virtually travel to a new place and learn of amazing geological wonders around the world!
Learn wildcraft and survival in an exciting, outdoor, hands on adventure course. Study includes nature play and outdoor skill building, including weekly applicable bible verses, narration prompts and simple hands-on projects.
Family style cooking will cover basic cooking skills for most ages. We will cover following recipes, measuring, chopping, mixing, and completing a family meal. Baking will be part of this class as well. We cover basic baked goods savory and sweet! Offered multiple times per day with age divided groups.
Using skills learned in our Family Style Cooking class we will be diving deeper into the art of cooking. More in depth pastry and cake decorating. Baking bread, canning, pickling, cheese, fish. Savory and sweet items.
We will be introduced to the basics of programming, coding, and electronics. We will learn how to program a microcontroller and, in the process, will gain knowledge of foundational circuit concepts including current, voltage, and digital logic.
Students will be building simple but fun projects throughout the course, including their own webpage! They will have weekly home challenges, based on that week’s lesson. They will be provided with a few free and safe resources, used by modern professional coders. There will be very light use of the internet in class, which will follow an internet use code of conduct, presented to and signed by each student. Come code with us!

Hands on math introduces and reinforces math concepts through games, projects and real-life examples. Opportunities for reinforcement and progression will be given for students who show mastery. The goal is to enjoy math!
Small group tutoring with a focus on supporting students in their current math curriculum. Students are encouraged to bring in at-home work with any questions they may have. Parents are welcome to share which concepts are a struggle for their child in order to provide extra practice in a new environment.
Math-U-See uses a mastery style approach with an emphasis on conceptual understanding before using conventional teaching methods. Pre Algebra is appropriate for kids who have completed elementary math and for those who would like to reinforce math skills before moving into algebra.

Picking up after the Early Christian era, your child will explore masterworks from Byzantine, Celtic, Carolingian, Romanesque, and Gothic art history. To aid their understanding and appreciation of these important cultures and the art they left behind, students will create beautiful art projects inspired by medieval masters.
We will explore the trails, fields, and creeks of the 36 acre campus of Woolsey Baptist Church and journal about various aspects of what we observe using John Muir Law’s How to Teach Nature Journaling: Curiosity, Wonder, Attention.
This 1 1/2 hour course will help students hone their drawing and mark making skills through the use of quality fine art materials. Students will practice grid work as well as draw from life and will work in media such as graphite, charcoal, colored pencils, markers, oil sticks. They will also learn basic relief printmaking techniques
Techniques covered will include crocheting, finger knitting, embroidery, cross-stitching, weaving, coil-basket construction, punch needle, and felting. Students will learn how to use the appropriate tools for each technique, how to read a pattern, and how to complete various stitches.
In this 1 1/2 hour course, students will learn advanced application of design/build processes including: material sourcing and purchasing, measuring, vocabulary, mechanical drawing, tool identification and usage, computer aided design and construction. These experienced students will enjoy a deeper dive into the Industrial Arts including: metal work/welding, woodworking, blacksmithing, mold making, concrete design, sculpting and cnc machining.
This course is a blend of photography and creative/journalistic writing. Students will learn how to capture an image to tell a story and how to write alongside that imagery. The basics of photo editing and page formatting will also be covered.
Students will learn the basic techniques of acting, character and voice development, presentation skills, and scriptwriting. We will apply vocal and movement techniques to convey emotions, convictions, and ideas. The course will stress developing imagination, observation, concentration powers, and self-discipline as a means to encourage cooperative learning, team work, organization, and leadership skills.

Verse 3 states “Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.” (ESV). It is our goal to provide a solid foundation of musical knowledge.
Students in 5th grade and up will work on vocal development, musicianship, and group singing in harmony with fine songs of beauty. Students in 2nd– 8th will grow in their knowledge and appreciation of musical skill and concept, basic theory and vocabulary, the great composers of music history, the timeline and development of genre, the function of music in the church, and exploration of methods of making music. Students will have the opportunity to create music in groups as well as build their skills in knowledge. Class information taught according to age appropriate level.

1 Timothy 4:8 says, "For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come." Physical Education along with proper diet and rest are key components of wisely stewarding the bodies God gives us. We desire to lay a healthy foundation and instill lifetime habits.
Middle and High Schoolers are challenged to grow in their physical capabilities to strengthen their bodies and learn to maintain/develop strength and health.
Our students engage in group games, introductions to various exercises, running, and caring for our bodies .
Our goal is to teach K-6 kids about goal setting, healthy habits, respect, and perseverance, all through the sport of running.
